Petering Concerto is recorded

This past summer, Aubrey recorded Mark's new concerto with the Colburn orchestra, under the direction of Pacific Symphony's Maxim Eshkenazy. It is a wonderful representation of Mark's piece, and anyone who has donated to the commission is welcome to a copy - just let me know your mailing address.

Next up, some fundraising for the next phase: getting the word out. Mark and Aubrey must make up packages, including CDs, to send to many orchestras around the world, so funding is needed for this critical juncture in the concerto's life. We still do not have an orchestra to do the World Premiere, but are busy putting the pieces in place to make that happen.

Donor thank you party a success!

The donors arrived, the composer was in attendance, the tuba player was in top form; everything came together Sunday, April 18 at the Steinway Piano Gallery in Wauwatosa, WI. We enjoyed wine and munchies and discussed the concerto we were about to hear in the lovely renovated space on North Avenue. Then, we all took our places, and heard, for the first time, the tuba concerto written by Wisconsin composer Mark Petering. It was a winner! Aubrey Foard played along to a virtual orchestra, but it was evident from the beginning that the piece was captivating and challenging, for the player as well as the audience. At the conclusion, warm applause and many questions, with the composer and performer answering questions and demonstrating various parts of the piece. A new work has been born, thanks to all the generous donors to the commission.
